So,
you're ready to pick your fonts and colors. This page is extremely
long--it's got a lot of data on it. That's because we offer
you as broad of options as possible so you can select every
detail. But just read a bit and you'll notice that if you don't
want to spend the time getting too involved we've got quick
selections available for you too.
FONTS
First it is important to point out there are two different categories
for fonts in our templates. Category one can use only web-specific
fonts, category two can use any of our styles of fonts since they
will be rendered in graphic format.
Category 1:
These are the fonts for the text on your pages as well as the
titles of the different sections (in our templates these are labelled
things like "Header 1" and "Welcome". The
reason it has to be limited is because when somebody visits your
web site, these fonts have to be chosen from inside THEIR computer!
So, here are your options:
1. Arial, which can include variations that are Bold,
Italics, or Bold-Italics
2. Helvetica, which can include
variations that are Bold, Italics, or
Bold-Italics
3. Geneva, which
can include variations that are Bold, Italics,
or Bold-Italics
4. Verdana,
which can include variations that are Bold, Italics,
or Bold-Italics
5. Times-New Roman,
which can include variations that are Bold, Italics,
or Bold-Italics
6. Georgia,
which can include variations that are Bold, Italics,
or Bold-Italics
7. Courier, which can
include variations that are Bold, Italics,
or Bold-Italics
The most commonly used ones are Arial, Verdana, and Times-New
Roman. It is strongly recommended you use only one font
for the text, and if selecting a different font for the headers
that you choose one in the same serif style (1-4 are sans-serif;
5-7 are serif).
Text can be size 1, size 2, size
3, size 4, size 5,
size 6, or size 7.
You're most likely going to want to stick with size 2 most of
the time with possible ventures into sizes 1 and 3. Sizes 4 and
larger are rarely touched, except for single- or double-word headlines.
Category 2.
These are fonts for where it says 'your logo here', for on your
page link buttons, and in some cases for slogans. Note that there
are a few exceptions to this: a few of our templates use Category
1 fonts for everything. Just ask us about a template you're interested
in to know for sure.
Here you can be very broad in your choice because the way we build
your site they aren't actually 'font's, but graphic images, so
they are downloaded from your web site meaning unlike the general
text they are not dependent on what font styles are inside the
visitors computer. With over 100 to choose from it may be a bit
intimidating. Feel free to consult with us and we can help you
narrow it down just through a bit of discussion.
COLORS
While the template already has its color scheme you can have
some influence on that. You can choose the colors for all fonts.
This includes both Category 1 and Category 2 text. You can also
choose a different color for the background on many templates,
although in general this isn't recommended. Below is a chart
of hundreds of colors that you may choose from. If you're wishing
to use any of these just tell us the 6 digit HEX number for
it.
